NumbersUSA is an anti-immigration advocacy organization seeking to reduce legal and illegal immigration to the United States. This organization was founded in the 1990s by Roy Beck. It has been involved in several national and state-level campaigns to reduce immigration and to make the U.S. a nation of “Americans.” It has offices in Washington, D.C., Denver, Colorado, and Columbus, Ohio. This anti-immigration advocacy organization has set its values and goals;
- To reduce both legal and illegal immigration to the United States.
- To make the U.S. a nation of “Americans” by promoting English as the primary language, assimilation of immigrants into American culture, and eliminating “un-American” elements from the U.S., such as government-subsidized housing for illegal aliens, daycare for children born in America to illegal aliens, public schools that teach only Spanish, etc.
- Work with Congress and state governments to pass legislation limiting legal and illegal immigration to the United States. And encourage states to cut off welfare benefits for illegal aliens unless they can provide proof of citizenship or legal residency in their form (Arizona is currently considering such legislation).
- Support candidate’s goals through direct political action, voter registration drives, organizing efforts at the state level, and media campaigns, but not by directly participating in elections.
NumbersUSA has an active website with a blog where contributors can post comments on current immigration issues and political campaigns involving immigration issues within the United States and worldwide. The blog also provides links to other organizations involved in these issues, such as the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), and NumbersUSA’s website.
NumbersUSA supports immigration reform, a controversial topic in the United States. Some people believe that immigration should be kept at its current level, while others think it should be reduced. According to the website of the Immigration Policy Center, a non-profit organization that provides research on issues related to immigrants and immigration, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) estimates that there are over 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States.
NumbersUSA is also concerned with the U.S. economy and wants to see a reduction in the national debt. They also want to see a decrease in taxes on corporations and businesses. They also want to see an increase in the minimum wage and the number of jobs available for Americans who are currently unemployed or underemployed, and they also want to see increased spending on research and development (R&D). They believe these things will help create more American jobs and improve the economy. See this page for additional information.
