Description

The phenotypic characteristics of a pure-bred Skyrian horse have not yet been clearly defined since a studbook has not yet been officially accepted by the Greek government. However, we at Silva are of the opinion that a pure-bred Skyros horse has the following description:



Skyrian Skyrian Skyrian Back Skyrian Hooves Color of Skyrians
Head & Neck:

Wide frontal bone, prominent eyes, short ears, wide, mealy muzzle, strong neck		 Chest:

Wide and deep rib cage		 Back:

Level and wide across loins, low-set tail		 Feet:

Black, hard and durable		 Color:

Browns, bays, black. A dark dun stripe along the back may be present. No white markings.


Median Weight: 151 kg
Height: 100-115 cm at the withers, or 9.3-11.1 hh
